We want zig-js to be a project where anyone can contribute — regardless of experience level, background, identity, or how they found their way here. Everyone participating in this project's spaces is expected to help keep it that way.
- Be direct about code and kind about people. This project is technically demanding and holds a high evidence bar; that standard applies to work, never to the person doing it.
- Critique claims, not contributors. "This number has no source behind it" is the right conversation; "you don't know what you're doing" is not.
- Assume good faith. Most disagreements here are about missing context, and asking is cheaper than assuming.
- Accept that "no" is sometimes the answer, and that it usually comes with a reason. Ask for the reason if it is not obvious.
- Respect people's stated names and pronouns.
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
- Personal attacks, demeaning comments, or sustained disruption of discussion.
- Sexualized language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention.
- Publishing others' private information without explicit permission.
- Deliberately introducing insecure or malicious code, or misrepresenting evidence to get a change accepted.
This applies in all project spaces — the repository, issues, pull requests, Discussions, and the Discord server — and when representing the project publicly.
Report a concern to chrisbreuer93@gmail.com. Reports are handled confidentially, and you will get a response. If your report concerns the person you would normally report to, say so and it will be routed elsewhere.
Maintainers may edit or remove contributions that violate this document, and may warn, temporarily restrict, or permanently ban a participant. Enforcement aims to be proportionate: a first, unintentional misstep should end with a private note and a correction, not a ban.
