I'm Noah, and I currently work as a Junior Cloud Engineer at DIE ZEIT in Hamburg, Germany. I love working on scripts, automations, and anything that makes your life easier and solves real problems. When coding, I like working with Python or Bash for my scripting needs. Apart from that, designing large systems is fun for me, alongside with the respective orchestration via Kubernetes, Docker, or similar tools. The most fun part however is checking your systems in terms of security, availability, robustness, etc. - after all, its fun to build a tower, but more fun to kick one down! :)
These are some of the languages, tools and libraries I regularly use:
🗣️ Languages: Python, Terraform/opentofu, Bash, Go, Java - at some point I'd like to try Rust, C or some other low-level language
🔧 Tools: Kubernetes, GCP, Docker, Terragrunt, Flux CD, HashiCorp Vault, GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana
💾 Databases: MongoDB, Postgres, Elastic
When coding, I like to look for creative solutions and feature ideas. For me, first building an MVP software and then iteratively adding features to it is a very fun and creative process. I feel it is very rewarding to see a software that started out as a little project grow and evolve naturally into a tool that can help deal with real-world problems - rather than to have a full-fledged program definition from the start.
Outside of work, I'm down for most sports, and currently find a lot of fun in bouldering and skating, but in the summer I like to go sailing as well. I like playing video games and read a lot, sometimes I'm a lot more extraverted than I'd expect myself - though typically I prefer to do things in little groups with friends, or conciously do things on my own. If you've never done that, try it!
