💡 What: Extracted parsed HeaderValues into a CachedSecurityHeaders struct for the security_headers_middleware and security_headers_layer. SecurityHeadersConfig now exposes a .cache() method that evaluates the configuration and caches the HeaderValues. This cached structure is now used in AppState and the middleware closures.
🎯 Why: Previously, SecurityHeadersConfig::apply_headers was converting string configurations into HeaderValue objects on every single request. This caused unnecessary parsing overhead and string allocations on the hot path.
📊 Impact: Eliminates per-request string parsing and HeaderValue allocations for up to 10 security headers on every response, improving throughput and reducing latency and memory usage.
🔬 Measurement: Verify through running cargo check -p app-http -p http-middleware and cargo test -p app-http -p http-middleware. The security_middleware.rs integration tests should continue to pass.
