Do you need this for anything in the short term? I was hoping to get imageproc to feature-gate its heavyweight dependencies before using it in wondermagick, probably synchronize that with the upcoming image 1.0 release as well.

Nah, let's not stack forks, that's just going to make life harder for everyone for no reason.

I'm not thrilled by the current dependencies of imageproc but I can contribute upstream and depend on imageproc git for a while.
