My main concern about supporting FreeBSD is not knowing much about it and not being able to check if it builds fine in CI. We won't have way to have preubilt binaries either because of GHA not having FreeBSD runners.
But if you are fine with FreeBSD support unexpectedly breaking, then I guess it is fine to have, specially because the changes doesn't look intrusive.
