- StaxRip (read the author's wiki) and paste the Templates folder (Link to download the Templates) contents into it
StaxRip>Settings>Templatesand run the StaxRip app and select theSettingsfolder as the option (one-time setup). - Run these using PowerShell/Command Prompt: install_apps.bat & install_python_libraries.bat
- Dovi.Scripts, carefully read the instructions given by the author to set up. Also refer to the youtube playlist for your reference
- Rip the Blu-ray using MakeMKV (already installed from install_apps.bat script), and verify the now created MKV file (hereinafter referred to as the "OG" file) contains the Dolby Vision or not by using the latest version of MediaInfo (already installed from the
install_apps.batscript). Open the “OG” file in here and view it in either HTML or Text form, and look for the "HDR" info stating something like thisHDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible
- Once verified that Dolby Vision metadata exists, run the
Dovi_Scripts_MKV.batfile and selectMODE.I= INJECT / EDIT / EXTRACT / INFO / VALIDATEand follow the instructions given there, add the “OG” file here, and read the Dolby Vision metadata valuesTop, Bottom, Left and Right - It should be like this
- And not like this
- If the values are wrong as shown above, follow the below steps. (this will take time, so be patient.)
- Run
DoVi.Scripts\tools\AvsPmod\AvsPmod.exethis application and drag and drop the “OG” file. SelectVideo>Cropin this window and enter the crop values. Refer to this youtube video for better understanding. - If you haven't closed the
Dovi_Scripts_MKV.batfile, then selectCHOICES: (default=X Exit) Exit=X L5=5 L6=6 L9=9 Resync=R or D SceneCut_Edit=F Source_PQ=Q PLOT=P Extract=E Check_Sync=S Metafier=M Transfer_Levels=T P7_to_P8=7 Remover=V, choose option'5' - Input the relevant value; recommended is using
manual option 'm' - Input the required
Top, Bottom, Left and Rightvalues and then proceed. - Once if everything is correct, you should now have a fresh new file of “OG” as “OG_DV”
- Start the StaxRip app, and then select
File>Templates>Select the relevant templateforSourceselect the “OG”/“OG_DV” file, whichever is relevant. - Once StaxRip has successfully imported the file, verify details about the same are getting shown properly.
- If you wish to make edits to the metadata of a file, like the audio name tags and subtitle tags, etc. Click,
Container Options. - Once all is in place, click
Add JobandStart. - Once StaxRip has finished processing, you should now have “OG_new” / “OG_DV_new”.
- Once StaxRip has created the file, run the
Dovi_Scripts_MKV.batfile and selectMODE.I= INJECT / EDIT / EXTRACT / INFO / VALIDATE, and follow the instructions given there, add the “OG_new”/“OG_DV_new” file here and read the Dolby Vision metadata valuesTop, Bottom, Left and Right, and verify if all is as per your liking. - Again, run the
Dovi_Scripts_MKV.batfile and selectMODE.S= Screenshots & Player> Workflow.2= MULTIPLE INPUTS: PQ screenshots DVP5/HDR10 or SDR vs SDR (Libplacebo), and make the comparisons. - You may now delete the previous files created and now only preserve the “OG_new”/“OG_DV_new”, or if your storage spares you, you may keep the “OG”/“OG_DV” & “OG_new”/“OG_DV_new” files.
