Exam Dashboard UX Analysis and Implementation Plan

Problem Statement

Managing exam rosters with nested tab navigation:

  • Current: Lecture → Assessments tab → Exams subtab → Click exam
  • Proposed: Add exam dashboard with overview/settings/roster tabs (3 levels of tabs)
  • Concern: Too many nested tab levels may hurt UX

Implementation Checklist

  • Create directory structure for analysis
  • Analyze current tab structure and UX patterns
  • Document UX concerns and alternatives
  • Create copilot instructions document
  • Implement exam list view component
  • Implement roster participants component
  • Create comprehensive UX recommendations document
  • Provide code examples for proposed solution
Original prompt

Just lets do a little forward thinking: Suppose we set up an exam and a campaign for it . Then the roster is filled. Then

  • where would we manage the exam's roster? We have the "assessments" tab in the lecture edit view. And below this level we have assignments/exams subtabs. Now if we click the exam and introduce an "exam dashboard" where we would have overview/settings/roster tabs here we have three levels of tabs. Might be too much. But i dont see a clean alternative for now. Analyze by looking ath the code/the docs and think about soultions with good UX. Discuss.

  • app/frontend/roster/components/roster_participants_component.html.erb
