Joan Marc Riera Duocastella

Infrastructure and platform leadership. Twenty years running production systems, most recently as Deputy Head of Operations at EMBL-EBI, Europe's bioinformatics institute: a 150 PB+ active archive, 4,500+ monitored servers, and identity services for 5,000+ users across six sites.

Now: advisory and senior leadership work; Oxford Executive Finance Programme (Saïd, 2026); Google Professional Cloud Architect in progress. Member, BCS; CITP application under assessment.

What I run

Everything below is production, self-hosted, behind a single identity provider, fully monitored, with off-site replication and tested runbooks: automation (n8n), observability (Prometheus/Grafana), documentation, CRM, private git with CI, and a local-first AI inference stack (Ollama, LiteLLM, WhisperX, Qdrant).

  • CNCraft: prompt to CNC-ready output (SVG, DXF, plotter, G-code)
