341 - Web Development; Final Project Site

You are to design, build, and host a multi-page web-site.

This site should:

  • Exhibit modern design principals with regard to:
    • Aesthetic Look and Feel
    • Mobile First Design Principals
    • Responsive Web Design
  • Clearly present you, another person, product, or idea. The main focus, as well as the target audience, should be apparent from the home page.
  • The look of the site should remain consistent throughout the site.
  • Although this is necessarily a multi-page site, the number of pages should be kept to a minimum so as to follow practice of minimalism.

Deliverables

  1. The URL to the hosted site (via something like github.io, blue host, or amazon s3).
  2. All code for the site, thoroughly documented with comments, and well organized.
  3. A readme.md for git repository describing the code, site, attributions, etc. to the world.
  4. A paper
    • That touches on the following:
      1. Introduction - Overview description of the paper and site
      2. Related Work
        • Sites the influenced you
        • Artists that influenced you
        • Templates your site is based on (directly or indirectly)
        • This section should include meta-links or footnote links
      3. Site description
        • What this site is for (you, a blog, an art portfolio, an idea, etc.)
        • Who the intended audience is
        • Why you made the aesthetic/design choices you did
        • Differences between the mobile and desktop versions of the design
      4. Development Process
        • What did you do? When and why?
        • What problems did you encounter? That you solved successfully or failed at?
      5. Future Work
        • What would you or will you change?
        • Is this something that you will maintain?
        • Hosting changes?
      6. Conclusions
    • This can be written as a markdown file and stored in your repository like: LastName_341Final.md. Or it can be written in word and exported as a .pdf.
    • You will likely want to include code snippets or images of your site that you reference within your paper.
    • There is no set length, but it will likely be somewhere in the equivalent of 2-10 single spaced pages.
