@mkhorasani Any thoughts on whether this can be merged? It would make development and contributions a lot easier. As an addition, it would be great if Dependabot could be enabled for this repository so that dependency updates are managed automatically. If you need/want any help in updating this PR to match the current version of the code, I'm happy to help. |

As discussed earlier, I suggest using poetry:

In addition to the use of Poetry, I recommend using a linter and code formatter. In this PR I added Ruff that can served as both linter and formatter and is extremely fast.
