Physics → software → quantum.
Director, Digital Assets at SettleMint (Tokyo). Independent research in quantum machine learning and scientific foundation models. Trained as a physicist at Göttingen.
I work across three fields that share more than they appear to — machine intelligence, quantum computing, and digital assets. Each is fundamentally about how information becomes structure, signal, and eventually knowledge.
– Leading solutions architecture and pre-sales for SettleMint's digital-asset platform across Japan and Germany — research-grade ideas moving (or not moving) through banks, regulators, and procurement.
– Running QMI Lab, an independent research lab on intelligence, learning, and representation across classical and quantum computation. Three pillars: foundations of machine intelligence (classical, publish-now), quantum machine intelligence (near-term, benchmark-driven), and quantum world models (long-horizon, agenda-setting). Active projects include hybrid quantum-classical Transformer fine-tuning for NLP and cross-lingual transfer through romanization.
– Building AstroLLM, a retrieval-grounded language model for astronomy and astrophysics. QLoRA fine-tuning on Qwen3 base models, integrated with NASA ADS, SIMBAD, and the NASA Exoplanet Archive. Custom four-track evaluation suite for grounding accuracy, tool routing, abstention, and pedagogical quality.
Diplom Physik (Göttingen, 2007). DFG-funded doctoral research in stellar astrophysics at the Institut für Astrophysik Göttingen — observations at European Southern Observatory facilities in Chile, custom IDL pipelines for spectroscopic analysis.
Earlier work at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization on Q-learning agents controlling simulated artificial muscle systems, with biomechanical dynamics modeled through Lagrangian mechanics — hands-on reinforcement-learning research predating both the deep-RL era and the rise of physics-informed machine learning.
