If we're not sure, design-wise, that we wnt this all the time, perhaps I create a toggle that hides this function, if people prefer the more minimalist view. |

I'm still using this, and backport new commits to master into this as they happen. I'm happy to continue to maintain this separately, but making a pull request again, in case we want to incorporate into master.
