I have no idea what's changed exactly, since there's no mention of anything in the changelog.

The changes that I'm aware of are fixes for some glyphs:

  • The following characters (all involving triangles) have unexpected dots in NewCM Sans Math: U+2A39, U+2A3A, U+2A3B, U+2A64, and U+2A65.
  • In NewCM Math Bold, U+2A44 is missing the wedge inside the intersection.
  • In NewCM Math fonts (not the Sans one, the Serif ones), the vertical bar in U+29B6 extends beyond the circle, which goes against the Unicode representative glyph and the other math fonts I tested.
  • In NewCM Sans Math, the arrow U+21A7 points up instead of down.
  • In NewCM Math Bold, the harpoon U+2956 points right instead of left.
  • In NewCM Sans Math, U+1D7A9 (mathematical sans-serif bold italic nabla) is sans-serif instead of being serif (or at least, this is what I believe by comparing it with the same character in other NewCM Math fonts, and U+1D793 in NewCM Sans Math).

Known issues with 8.0.1 that I reported to the maintainer:

  • U+29CB and U+29CC have superfluous dots in NewCM Math Bold and NewCM Sans Math.
  • U+29E1 has a closed triangle in other math fonts (Noto, STIX2, Lete) as well as in the Unicode representative glyph.
