USTSIPIN02 - Semiconductor ionizing radiation detector and spectrometer electronics

It is intended for measurements of cosmic radiation and ionizing radiation dosimetry by using c-Si PIN diode sensor.

Technical parameters

  • Silicon PIN diode detector with 44 mm³ detection volume
  • The number of energy channels depends on the firmware
  • Deposited energy range from 60 keV to 7 MeV, the measurement range could be adjusted by altering values in the analog front end
  • Energy measurement resolution 15 ±2 keV (the exact value depends on firmware and analog front-end setup).
  • Power supply 3.3 to 5V / 3 mA
  • Integration time depends on specific firmware setup
  • Interface - RS232 TTL on JST-GH connector or USB-C device
  • Dimensions - 91mm x 51mm x 12mm
  • Weight

Use cases

USB interface

The main user interface is with a USB-C connector. See the LABDOS01 for a detailed description.

UART interface

It could also be used for firmware upgrades by switching solder jumper on the PCB.

Auxilary IO

Mainly useful for special tasks like control of external devices depending on radiation intensity or spectral threshold energy. Another usage is the connection to an autopilot in a UAV. See the AIRDOS03 for details.

Bootloader Programming Interface

The connector is used for service actions only. It is not accessible by users in normal circumstances. The user firmware changes use the programmed bootloader.
