One of the GNU comparison tests in one of my PR's #9517 is failing because of conflicting behaviour in different versions of GNU, this is the only one that's failing and adding this will make sure its using a more current version of coreutils to test against.

GNU testsuite comparison:

Skip an intermittent issue tests/tail/overlay-headers (fails in this run but passes in the 'main' branch)

I think this should be done at all targets for simplicity.

I think a few tests might start failing but can test

Not sure how many apt-get useful to sync version with our target on LTS Ubuntu runner (see coreutils ver at https://github.com/actions/runner-images/blob/main/images/ubuntu/Ubuntu2404-Readme.md). (But useful for you at least for your PR)

Why closed?

My bad was typing up a comment, I thought from the discussions in #9547 that this was something that was not going to be pursued until later. I have disabled the one test of mine that was failing and linked it to that issue for later.

I did not test. But brew has coreutils 9.9 and it is default set of ubuntu-latest runner: https://github.com/actions/runner-images/blob/main/images/ubuntu/Ubuntu2404-Readme.md#homebrew-note
