Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the Genesis Code Protocol?

The Genesis Code Protocol (GCP) is an AI‑native framework that guides a large language model through a series of phases to develop and validate new ideas. It produces a signed, auditable Invention Package containing evidence, reproducibility protocols, provenance and documentation.

Do I need to attach runners and cartridges?

No. Runners and cartridges are optional enhancers. A basic GCP run requires only the protocol document and a capable LLM. Attach runners for domain‑specific expertise and cartridges for evaluation metrics, policies and tools.

How do Auto Mode and Full Run differ?

In Auto Mode, the model prints a Gate Decision Card at each checkpoint and executes its recommended action if you do not override it. In Full Run, the model prints the card but waits for your explicit instruction (proceed, branch, return or end) before continuing.

What happens if I skip a phase?

Skipping phases is possible via the branch or return commands. However, omissions may affect the quality or reproducibility of your Invention Package. Use caution and document your rationale in the ledgers.

How do I update to a new version?

Each edition of GCP is self‑contained and backward‑compatible. To upgrade, load the new protocol document (e.g. GCP V50.md) and follow the Quick Start instructions. See the edition page for details on new phases and features.

How do I report a security issue?

Refer to SECURITY.md in the repository. It contains contact information, supported versions and coordinated disclosure guidelines. Follow the process described there when reporting vulnerabilities.
