Troubleshooting
Fix the most common AntiLink issues fast - removals not firing, changes not applying, permission and hierarchy problems, and more.

Most issues come down to a handful of causes. Find your symptom below and work through the checklist in order.
Warning
Before anything else: test with a normal member account. AntiLink always exempts the server owner and anyone with Administrator, Manage Server, or Manage Messages. If you test as an admin, nothing happens - and that is correct behavior, not a bug. See How protection works.
Check, in order:
-
Protection is enabled - run
/config, or open the dashboard Overview. - You are not testing as an exempt user - owners, admins, and whitelisted users or roles are never moderated. Use a normal account.
- The author, channel, or category is not whitelisted - check the Whitelist tab.
- The bot has Manage Messages in that channel - the dashboard Overview flags missing permissions.
- The right link type is blocked - invite blocking and external-link blocking are separate toggles. Some toggles are Premium.
- Changes apply within seconds - the dashboard refreshes the bot's cache on save.
- If the bot was offline, changes apply when it reconnects, or within about five minutes.
- Seeing a "Failed to find Server Action" message after an update? That is a stale page from a previous version. Hard-refresh the tab (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R) and try again. It does not affect your saved data.
These actions depend on Discord's role hierarchy:
Warning
AntiLink can only act on members below its own highest role, and can only assign a mute or quarantine role that is below its own role. Drag the AntiLink role high in Server Settings -> Roles, above your members and above the mute/quarantine role.
Also confirm the bot has the matching permission (Moderate Members for timeouts, Kick / Ban Members for kicks and bans, Manage Roles for quarantine).
Whitelist its domain:
- Discord:
/whitelist add type:url target:example.com - Dashboard: the Whitelist tab, Domains
Whitelisted domains are always allowed, even in an emergency lockdown.
- You are testing as an exempt user (owner, admin, or moderator). Test with a normal account.
- The response or filter is Premium-gated - the Timeout response and the Repeated Messages filter require AntiLink Plus.
- The specific filter is turned off - each filter has its own toggle on the Automod tab.
They should not be. AntiLink only acts on links in message text, never on file uploads. If a message has both a link and a file, only the link triggers removal.
- Member Defense requires AntiLink Premium and must be enabled on the Member Defense tab.
- Full join-time raid detection needs the Server Members intent enabled for the bot. Honeypot trap channels and new-member link lockdown work without it.
- Raid thresholds are conservative by default - see Member Defense to tune them.
- Confirm AntiLink Premium is active for the server.
- Make sure the custom bot was invited from the Custom Bot tab and has the required permissions.
- While a custom bot is active, the main AntiLink bot intentionally stands down for your server, so only the custom bot acts.
